I don't know about you but the weather here in the Midwest has been really weird and confusing the last couple of weeks. Author: Bhavani Jaroff, iEat Green. Miso paste is mixed into dashi, along with other ingredients such as tofu, seaweed (usually wakame) or mushrooms. I got a steaming hot shrimp tempura roll ($3) off the belt. Tofu, miso paste, Kombu (a sea vegetable), and aged, dried bonito (fish) flakes, are items that I keep in the kitchen, because I love to make miso soup. Back to Miso soup though- when I realized I had all the ingredients at home it became that much more exciting! During the winter, chickpea miso soup is my comfort food. It came with 4 pieces and was served on a cute “Coming to America” belt. It's my Asian style version of chicken soup with its light, yellow, salty broth. Miso soup is one of my favorite soups. Miso soup is an integral part of most Japanese meal. Koji is usually an inoculated rice or barley. I love starting my meal in Japanese restaurants with a simple bowl of hot miso soup. Miso is readily available and one of those ingredients I try to always have on hand. Shrimp Tempura Roll, Cucumber Sunomono and Miso Soup. It has been in the high 70's down to the 40's with either rain or shine.
